Background

Animal shelters across the country are overcrowded with abandoned animals. At the same time Singapore Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) wants to encourage adoption of pets via shelters rather than purchasing through stores to help save the lives of abandoned animals.

Challenge

The process of adoption in SPCA is stringent and tough. Most people drop-out through this process and the hurdle to adopt is high. Despite the charitable nature of prospective adopters, this high barrier to entry often pushes such profiles back to the pet store. How might we create an excitable digital platform that educates and matches the pet to the potential pet owner in a delightful way, so that expectations are met on both sides, resulting in a successful long-term relationship?

Solution

Research shows that successful long-term pet ownership happens best when the type of pet and breed of pet matches the life circumstances, personality and forms a deep connection with the pet owners. Using this, I created the Dog&Bone matching-making app.

Dog&Bone is a digital platform that uses personality and similar characteristics to create meaningful matches between potential pet owners and pets through smart data AI- algorithms and in-depth profile matching.
